Palos Trails

It took me two years of exploring the barely documented trail systems around Chicago before I finally discovered the Palos trail system.

With 42.1 miles of single track and gravel trails, the Palos trails is the closest to paradise that a trail runner lost in the flatlands can experience. The adventurer in all of us will enjoy the barely marked trail system with deer trails splitting off from the main trail all through the system.

I fell in love with the Palos trails and the oasis that they create. The trails dive into ravines and roll through open meadows in the blink of an eye.

The Fancy Nonsense 25k/50k will run you through these deep canopies, open fields, water crossings and even swing you by the burial place of the world’s first nuclear reactor.

Are you ready for the adventure?

Curious Ultrarunner’s Secret Society was established to inject a sense of whimsy into training calendars, split times, and fartleks. Our goal is to build a community that creates a space for the individual to fall in love with the magic of running.

Mission: To help others fall in love with ultra trail running

Vision: To make you and the world slightly better through laughter & pain
